Botox Injection

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]With a product as popular and widely used as Botox, there comes a fair amount of questions and the occasional misconception. Perhaps you have a friend who has recently had treatments, or you’ve seen enough before and after photos that you’ve finally started giving this particular treatment option some serious thought. Whatever the case, now that Botox is on your radar, you likely have a few questions as well. That’s where we come in.

Dr. Aimee Russo-Mounger has been expertly injecting Botox for beautiful, natural-looking results for years. And, after all this time, she’s not only developed quite a knack for delivering consistent, desirable results, she’s also learned a lot about this long-standing facial relaxer. As a result, The Smile Spa team decided to take this knowledge, combine it with some our most commonly asked patient questions, and develop this Botox FAQ guide just for you!

How Does Botox Work?

Botox is a facial relaxer, but in the world of cosmetic injectables, it is often confused with facial fillers. Because Botox does not fill in space, but rather relaxes the facial muscles, it is only useful for dynamic wrinkles, or those that occur as a result of muscle contraction. Static wrinkles that occur due to age and loss of volume will not be improved with Botox.

Where on the Face can Botox be used?

Botox is FDA-approved and works very well for reducing the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles found between the brows (frown lines) and around the eyes (crow’s feet). It is also quite effective when used for dynamic wrinkles occurring on the forehead, along the side of the nose (bunny lines), and around the mouth.

How Long Does Botox take to Work?

Actual injection of Botox is quick, taking around 10 minutes. The results, however, will begin to be seen within 24-48 hours of treatment and will continue to improve over the course of the next 2 weeks. Once achieved, Botox results should last for about 3 months.

What are Common Botox Side Effects?

Botox is very safe and side effects are relatively rare. Those side effects that are noted are generally mild and resolve quickly. These may include temporary redness or light bruising at the injection site. Your provider can further discuss these and answer any questions during your initial consultation.

How Much Does Botox Cost?

A reputable practitioner will charge according to the number of units of Botox required. This means that the total cost will vary based on the area being treated and the amount of Botox needed. On occasion, you may be able to find savings opportunities through provider-hosted special Botox events or by putting together your own Botox party.

If you still have questions regarding Botox or are simply ready to get started, contact The Smile Spa to schedule a consultation. During this appointment, you can discuss your areas of concern, ask any additional questions, and make a determination if Botox is the best solution for you![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
