Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry

Dental Anxiety & Pain Solutions

Many patients avoid getting routine dental care due to fear, anticipated pain, and anxiety. However, avoiding the dentist long-term can lead to extended and severe dental damage and oral health concerns. Our practice never wants patients to avoid dentistry out of fear. Therefore, we offer a range of sedation dentistry options and comfort measures to ensure that you receive a relaxing dental experience that has you looking forward to the dentist.

What is Sedation Procedure

The sedation dentistry process can seem scary. However, it is not like general surgery anesthesia, as many people think. Often, sedation dentistry is minimally invasive, with minimal side effects, and can often allow you to drive yourself home after the appointment. We offer a variety of sedation options to best fit both your needs and the procedure.

Benefits of Sedation

There are a variety of benefits to sedation dentistry, including:

  • Lessened Anxiety: By receiving sedation dentistry, you can ease your mind and relax during your dental procedure.
  • Lessened Damage: Often, anxiety during dental procedures can cause clenched jaws and jerking, meaning that increased damage can occur due to lack of relaxation. Sedation dentistry can solve this.
  • Extension of Services: By being fully relaxed likely additional necessary dental treatments can occur.

Sedation Options

We offer a variety of sedation options, including:

  • Laughing Gas: Also known as nitrous oxide, this short-acting gas can keep you calm but will wear off in time for you to drive yourself home.
  • Oral Sedation: This form of sedation is often given via pill form in the waiting room before the appointment. This is a highly effective sedation, but is longer lasting and means you cannot drive to and from your appointment.
  • IV Sedation: Given in the treatment room, this form is as effective as oral sedation, and you will still be unable to drive to and from, but wears off faster than oral sedation.
  • Oraverse: This is an oral injection known to counteract the effects of sedation, especially if you have an adverse reaction or need side effects and drowsiness to go away quicker.
