Helping (and Dancing) for a Good Cause
Dr. Aimee Russo-Mounger believes in the power of enhancing lives and showing the absolute good one can do, giving back in ways that are unique to her approach to dentistry. Dr. Mounger works closely with Commission Mankind, a Hammond, LA-based non-profit that focuses solely on connecting missionaries around the world to special faith-based missions.
Through these missions, Commission Mankind has been able to supply over 150,000 people with clean water, changing and improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of people across the world in 2022. This cause is one of many that Dr. Russo holds so close to her heart. She shares their mission and vision “to provide opportunities to visit, encourage, and assist missionaries through connection, evangelistic outreach partnerships, and building projects in the hardest to reach places.”
A Dentist Who Can Dance
Dr. Russo has a secret first LOVE that she will return to whenever possible, and that’s the art of dancing and performing. She enjoys sharing her talents at many local events in Louisiana, where she gladly moves with a cause for numerous community fundraisers or just for fun. She was chosen as the 2018 and 2022 Judge’s Choice Winner for Dancing for a Cause. This is the Arc of East Ascension’s annual fundraising event, modeled after “Dancing With the Stars,” to raise money for housing, job training, and educational programs to help enhance local lives and communities. Additionally, Dr. Russo serves as community leader and volunteer dancer with the Cangelosi Dance Project and the Big Buddy program, where she helps inspire others through movement and dance.
A Dentist Who Cares About Cancer
Dr. Russo is also involved with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and donates to Bust for Breast Cancer. She was part of their big launch party, which engages several community members, leaders, and representatives in the ongoing, important fight against breast cancer. She’s honored to work with such an important, successful organization to raise funds and awareness about the battles, so many women face with breast cancer. It’s another way Dr. Russo gives back and participates in the community she treats, calls home, and will forever support.
